Great challenge; will be glad to hear how it goes. And thanks for the great produce bag tutorial--I've been pondering how to do something like this for awhile. The cheesecloth is brilliant!

I know what you mean about food waste. I get so upset with myself every time I have to throw something away that has gone just a bit too long. Will definitely be joining you in the challenge this month! K x

That's a great challenge. I saw a poster the other day saying that one third of the food we buy in the UK is tossed. Can you imagine? I could do better I know... I'm not that bad but there's plenty of room for improvement. Started feeding the wild birds more lately and that's good for any leftover bready / cakey things.

Love Charlotte

Hi jennifer,
i find food waste so depressing ... i am really looking forward to some tips and advice here from your month of change. better organization is the key for us and it has to be just me purchasing the food (hubby gets tempted on his way home and often picks up groceries without checking whether i have already got them, which often causes doubles of things... so not so good)...
sounds like you are very good at not having any waste already ... wishing you a happy february

Thanks so much Jennifer - I've sent you an email.
What a great challenge - I'll have to look into it more. We don't have too much waste here. We are on a small acreage, and any waste goes to the chooks, or the dogs, or the compost heap. However, I guess the main objective is not to overbuy but to use what is seasonally available. I am currently looking at a more structured menu plan which will mean I only have to buy what I need on a weekly basis, otherwise I often overbuy. Thanks again!

Oh I hear ya. Great challenge. And if you figure out how to organise your fridge to keep track of what's old and what's new, please share. The amount of food we throw away each month... I'm so ashamed right now.

I really love this One Small Change thing! I really should join it.

So glad to hear Jan went well! I love your Feb change. I also need to be more conscious of this. Lately, I have been better about planning meals that will use the same ingredients to avoid waste!
Good luck and thanks for sharing!

The spicey chicken rice soup I just posted about was originally a way to clean out the refrigerator as well. I'm horrible about mixing up foods so I'm always grateful when someone gives me a simple recipe to create.

We just had a stir fry made with the left over pork from yesterday. I hate to throw anything away, but some of the parcels of leftovers in the freezer don't have labels on so we might get some interesting combinations!
